This
$10.1 million project consists
of renovating and refurbishing Tamarac Elementary School, Parker School,
Tamarac Middle
and High Schools, the Bus Garage and Field Storage Building. The
project was bid June 2007 and work commenced in July. See below for a
more detailed description of the work to be performed.

WORK CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Tamarac
High/Middle School
- Replace main entrance
canopy.
- Replace 1957 gym
floor, bleachers and room divider.
- Refinish middle
school gym floor; replace room divider.
- Replace single
pane aluminum storefronts and doors.
- Refurbish corridor
tile walls and terrazzo lobby floor.
- Replace kitchen
cooler; improve make-up and exhaust system.
- Replace fixtures
in second floor toilet room in 1957 wing.
- Complete
conversion over to energy-efficient mechanical controls.
- Mechanical system
upgrades.
- Improve HVAC and
electric services in IT server area.
- Replace selected
electrical panels.
- Installation of
additional and improved camera security system equipment.
- Provide new phone
system and phones; train and “cut-over” to new phone system.
- Installation of
site light poles along Rt. 2.
Work started after
Graduation 2008 and scheduled for mid-fall 2008 completion:
- Refurbish auditorium
carpet, seats, stage surface, finishes, curtain, etc.
- Construct new sound
booth, enhance sound controls.
- Install improved
auditorium HVAC ductwork.

Elementary School
- Replace selected
interior doors and hardware

classrooms and new entry doors for those classrooms.

interior doors and hardware.

in classroom for science use.
- Install new cabinetry
in kitchen and Nurse's office areas.
- Replace
classroom and office heating systems
with added ventilation controls.

Remove existing and install new electric service entrance to building
and distribution; replace existing electrical panels throughout

Site Work and Storage Building at Tamarac
Site

Reconfigured traffic and parking at both
the high school and elementary school loops for improved safety.
- Added
paved and striped parking area at southeast corner of site for
additional parking spaces.

Removed bases for abandoned site
lighting, ran conduits across new paved area for new site lighting,
reinstalled and energized salvaged round head site lights in drop-off
islands.
-
Reinstalled school information sign at
main vehicle entrance.
-
Installed additional directional signage.
-
Resurfaced and restriped running track.
-
Demolished old wood storage building;
provided new foundation, concrete block, and shingle roof storage
building replacement; restored adjacent paving, fences and grass.

Installed concrete bases for site
lighting, installed all site lights away from Rt. 2.
Tamarac High/Middle School
-
Replaced roofs at HS and MS gym with new
foam insulated roofing system.

Asbestos abatement of VAT in southwest
first floor classrooms, north corridor, and one second floor classroom.

Installed of VCT flooring and base in
those same rooms and corridor prior to start of classes for fall of
2007.

Enlarged IT server room and provided IT
office space.
-
Relocated water line, hydrant, and
irrigation system feed/meter around new loading dock location.
Restored sidewalks, paving and grass at
loading dock addition.

Installed foundation, walls, roof
structure, and utilities for new loading dock addition. Modified areas
of existing building for access and exit corridors, walls, etc...

Removed middle school stage in Cafetorium
(including concealed ACM) and reconstructed area into classroom at main
floor elevation.

Replaced unit ventilators, windows, and
window sills in selected rooms and corridors (mostly 1970’s addition).

Provided mechanical system upgrades.

Provided additional electric in computer
classroom.

Installed conduit, wiring, lighting and
device improvements to electrical and safety systems throughout school
building.

Selected lighting upgrades and provided
occupancy sensors for lighting.

Tamarac Elementary School
-
Replaced older roofing system with new
foam insulated roofing

Asbestos abatement of all remaining VAT
in classrooms, cafeteria, coach’s office, and two small rooms.

Patched the concrete floors in those same
rooms and installed VCT and base prior to start of classes.
-
Asbestos abatement of pipe elbows in
south wall of large gym.
-
Reinforcement of the south wall of large
gym and reinstallation of wallboard, taping and pads prior to start of
classes for fall of 2007.

Demolition and removal of cafeteria stage
and restoration of finishes for expanded cafeteria area.
-
Refurbished selected toilet room fixtures
and classroom sink trims.
-
Selected lighting upgrades and provided
occupancy sensors for lighting.

Installed improvements to safety systems.

Parker School
-

one classroom, the existing back office suite, and Cafetorium; abatement
of pipe elbows found under the removed stage and over the removed gym
soffit.

Patched the concrete floors in those same
rooms and installed VCT and base in classroom prior to start of classes.

Demolished and removed of Cafetorium
stage and back office area walls; reconstructed into new office area
with new HVAC, etc.

Installed new flooring and base in
Cafetorium.
