Ribbon Cutting & Dedication Ceremony at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY

Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held

Saint Francis Hospital and Health Centers held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new 9,000 sf James J. McCann Emergency Care Center on September 23, 2008.  The new center houses 11 private exam / patient holding rooms, a 3 bay prompt care area, registration and triage area, 3 nurses stations and two waiting areas.  

 

The next phases of the project have begun and include 13,000 square feet of renovations to the existing emergency department.  This work includes 3 state of the art trauma rooms, decontamination / HazMat room, two isolation rooms, several specialized exam rooms, and a new behavioral health area.

Arts Center ready for Concerts

The ceremonial ribbon cutting for the highly anticipated opening of the College of Saint Rose's Massry Center for the Arts was held on August 21, 2008.  Dr. R. Mark Sullivan and many of the donors were on hand for the event.  The College held an "Opening Weekend for the Community" September 26th and 27th.  It featured a variety of musical presentations including performances by the Saint Rose faculty and the center was also open for self-guided tours.  The building was designed with the intent of attaining a LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) “Platinum” rating. Many energy-saving features were incorporated throughout, making the Massry Center 32% more energy efficient than the average building of its size.

Winner of 2 Safety Awards!!

Sano-Rubin is pleased to announce we have been awarded the Safety Excellence Award by the General Building Contractors of New York State.  The award is open to member firms meeting an EMR of less than 1.0 and an incident rate 25% below the national average.    Random jobsite inspections and company history, logs and safety program were also part of the award submission.  This is the 4th consecutive year and the 5th time overall Sano-Rubin has won this award.  Our Safety Director, Tom Poole, was presented the award on October 4, 2008 at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake.

 

And for the 6th straight year, Sano-Rubin has been selected to receive the Certificate of Commendation for Safety Excellence by the Associated Contractors of America by maintaining a Zero Incidence Rate. 

Congratulations to our Safety Officers, Tom Poole and Bernie Huss, and all our employees for making safety a priority on the jobsite.

Construction Completed at Hackett Middle School

Sano-Rubin has completed the renovation and addition work at the William S. Hackett Middle School Phase II project which began June 26, 2006.  Students will begin the 2008/2009 school year in the newly renovated school.  See our Recent Projects page for more photographs of the project.

 

This is the fourth project Sano-Rubin has completed for the Albany City School District.  Previously completed schools are:

Sheridan Preparatory Academy, Montessori Magnet School, Pine Hills Elementary (formerly School 16)

 

The new Canajoharie Family Health Center.
New Health Center Open

A Dedication Ceremony was held July 2, 2008, at the new Canajoharie Family Health Center  located on Erie Boulevard in Canajoharie, NY, adjacent to the recently completed Arkell Museum.  The dedication was attended by  Canajoharie Mayor Leigh Fuller, Joe Santangelo - Executive Director of the Arkell Hall Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Ghazi - Chairman of St. Mary's Board of Directors, Mark Lane - President & CEO of Fidelis Care and Bishop Howard Hubbard.  The Center is affiliated with St. Mary's Hospital - Amsterdam and provides health care to Canajoharie and the surrounding area.  Sano-Rubin provided Design-Build services for the project and Architecture + provided architectural services.

Eastern Contractors Association honored David Rubin with a Special Recognition Award for his many years of dedicated and exemplary service to the Association and the Construction Industry.  David has been a long-standing ECA Board member, is a current Past President, and has served on numerous committees as well as being highly involved in negotiations over the years.  This year's Annual Reception and Meeting was held May 15, 2008 in Saratoga Springs.

USGBC Member

Sano-Rubin is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council which provides valuable resources for LEED AP exam preparation,  product research and credit evaluation.  Senior Project Manager, Scott Hawkins and Quality Control Manager Barbara Lippert, have received LEED Professional Accreditation and three other staff members will be receiving accreditation in the coming months.  The projects listed below are currently under construction and have been designed with the intent to achieve various levels of LEED certification.

Construction Continues

Sano-Rubin is busy constructing the Empire State College's new $10.8 million Center for Distance Learning.  The 46,000 square foot, 3-story, steel framed building is located at 113 West Avenue, adjacent to the existing facility.  The facility will contain administrative offices, conference rooms, meeting rooms, and instructional spaces as well as a multipurpose room and kitchen on the third floor.  Geothermal wells are a main component of the work to be completed as part of the general construction contract.  

JMZ Architects & Planners, PC are the architects for the project which has been designed with the intent to reach the goal of a LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) Silver Rating.
